Khata, Khesra, and Mauza

A Mauza is an administrative revenue village. A Khata is an account number assigned to an individual landholder or family branch within that Mauza. A Khesra (Plot Number) refers to a specific geographic parcel of land within that Khata.

  • Mauza: The revenue village entity
  • Khata Number: The tenant's account ledger
  • Khesra Number: The individual plot parcel number
  • Rakba: The total measured land area of that plot

Khatiyan vs Jamabandi Panji

Khatiyan is the master Record of Rights (RoR) created during cadastral settlement surveys. Jamabandi Panji (Register-II) is the continuous working revenue ledger kept at the Anchal office that tracks subsequent mutations, ownership changes, and tax payments.
